Thank you very much for your continued support of master-piece.
This is Honda from master-piece KYOTO.
For this Journal, we took a slightly different approach and interviewed each Kyoto store staff member about their “favorite items.”
We hope you’ll enjoy discovering the charm of our bags and accessories through the real voices of the staff who welcome you in-store every day.
By the way, this heartwarming photo is my personal favorite (blushing).
First, we interviewed our store manager, Amarume.
— Please tell us your favorite series.
Amarume: There are so many, but it has to be Potential. Creating a limited model for our Kyoto store’s 10th anniversary was a wonderful memory, and the very first master-piece I bought as a student was also an early Potential model. It’s the series that first showed me the appeal of the brand, so it still holds a special place for me.
*The photo shows staff’s personal item. This is a Kyoto 10th anniversary limited model based on Potential No.01752-v3.*
— What do you like about it?
Amarume: In a word, the “usability.” Of course, the material functionality is excellent, but also the number and placement of pockets, the size, and the comfort when carrying it on your back. It’s hard to find any faults in this series.
— Could you share a few points about how you actually use it?
Amarume: I don’t usually carry large items, but I do carry a lot of small ones, so I use the pockets to organize them neatly. Once you get used to it, you can take things out without even looking, which is really convenient for commuting or navigating crowded places.
Another small detail I love is the cushioned handle on the top of the bag. It doesn’t just improve comfort when carrying on your back, but it also reduces stress when holding it by hand, making it a great feature for people who often move through crowds.
— Thank you. Lastly, could you share a message with our readers?
Amarume: Potential comes in a wide range of models, so it can meet many different needs. There’s still so much more I’d like to share about what makes it great—please come visit us at the Kyoto store!
Next, we interviewed our staff member Furusawa.
— Furusawa, please tell us your favorite series.
Furusawa: The Freak series. I like so many that it’s hard to choose, so I’ll answer with a small-item series. The variety—like bottle holders and key cases—makes it fun to mix and match however you like. Among them, my absolute favorite is the L-zip wallet.
— What do you like about it?
Furusawa: Thanks to the coin compartment divider, it works great as a second wallet for short outings or travel, and the card slots make organization easy. I also love the texture and the wide range of colors—from basic tones to outdoor-inspired shades—so you can pick one that fits your outfit or mood of the day.
— Could you share how you use it day-to-day?
Furusawa: I commute by train, so I keep my transit pass on one side and receipts on the other. I use the extra space for coupons from restaurants, and being able to pull them out quickly at checkout is really convenient.
Also, since the L-zip wallet comes with a loop, I combine it with the M-CARABINER KEY RING. I hang it from my bag or belt loop, and honestly, I might be wearing it all the time except when I sleep. Being able to link items together like this feels very master-piece, and I love it.
— Lastly, do you have a message for our readers?
Furusawa: master-piece isn’t only about backpacks—we also have many small items that make everyday life more convenient. Please stop by our store and find your own favorite.
Thank you to both of you!
How did you enjoy these introductions to items filled with our staff’s personal “favorites”?
