The main body is made of bridle leather from Spire Leather Company in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. The Spire Leather Company continues excellence in all aspects of leather production since taking over in the historic Clayton Company (est 1840) in 2018. We are particular in choosing the best British products, procuring the raw leather, tanning, finishing, chemicals, finishing natural waxes and oils all locally. Bridle leather was originally made for harnesses, especially for challenging bridles, and has a tough durability. The manufacturing method that produces this tough leather is a traditional method that takes an incredible amount of time and effort. Only tannins from cowhide are used for this long tanning process (about 2.5 times the normal amount) so as not to loosen the fibers. After that, a mixture of secret ingredients such as tallow, beeswax, and vegetable oil is applied by hand, and once dry, the remaining wax is rubbed on the surface over and over again and soaks into the leather. The resulting leather is tough, but the more you use it, the more it becomes familiar and supple. The wax on the surface is polished by friction, and this amber lustre that cannot be experienced with other leathers enhances the elegance. The fasteners are YKK EXCELLA, with the entire surface of each element carefully polished.
